The Marist Family is made up five branches, Marist Fathers, Marist Missionary Sisters, Marist Way (Laity), Marist Brothers and Marist Sisters. From its beginnings the vision was that the Family would be a Tree With Many Branches. Its vision began to take place in early-nineteenth century France, with men and women coming together to shape this vision – to be a presence of Mary in the world and church.

Collaborating as Marist Family in Australia in the area of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation had its beginnings in 2009, when one representative from each of the religious congregations of Marists came together.

Presently the Marist Family JPIC Team in Australia comprises four members who are Marist Fathers, two representatives of Marist Way, one Marist Missionary Sister, two Marist Sisters and one Marist Brother. These meet regularly in an effort to promote JPIC initiatives. These members are also linked with their own international networks of Marist JPIC groups.

Song - Garden (A Song for Season of Creation)

We’re making a garden; We’re working the ground. In land that’s bombed and torn, Your love soaks through the soil;New life can yet be born.

Social Justice Statement - Cry for the Poor

Our challenge is to accompany people from the margins into a journey towards the fullness of life and love. We are meant to be in the coalface, in the messiness of it all and at the same time in fidelity to the Gospel… Like Christ in his ministry among the sick and the lost, we are called to meet God in the most unlikely people and places. We, too, must be in that frontier space.
